The Museum Project

The aim is to equip the children with the skills that they need to collect artefacts and curate a museum exhibition to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the school. The children will collect objects and pictures. These will be chosen to tell the story of the school, their own personal history, or to reflect life in the area during the 175 years that the school has been open.

To prepare the children the KS2 classes will each have two workshops, on the 10th and 17th September. In the first children will learn how a museum collects and records objects and how to collect oral histories. During the second they will learn how to organise and present a collection of objects for a museum display.

After the workshops each class will create its own museum. Teachers will select which elements to focus on to meet curriculum requirements and reflect the interests and age of the children in their class.
